Abstract:
Compound refractive x-ray lenses have recently been developed by Adelphi Technology
and others. These lenses allow direct imaging, just as visible light optics,
which are also refractive. Such a capability opens a range of high resolution
x-ray imaging applications. However, the lenses have extremely small apertures
(less than 1 mm) and are relatively long (several cm) limiting collection
efficiency and field of view. Furthermore, the focal length depends strongly
on the x-ray wavelength. These design issues, along with results of recent
imaging experiments will be discussed.
